Photos from the Air and Space museum at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center

On Friday I drove my roommate out to Dulles Airport which just so happens to be located next door to the Smithsonian Institution’s Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center, which is another wing of the Air and Space Museum.  The location on the National Mall in downtown Washington D.C. is limited in size and can only hold so many artifacts (which is what the museum calls the planes, rockets and other things they have in the collection).  I visited the mall location back in August when I first moved to DC.

Of course I had to bring my camera along and take some photographs.

This one is my favorite of the bunch.

The F-14 Tomcat

This one is a close second.  This SR-71 flew from LA to DC in 1 hour, 4 minutes, and 20 seconds on its final flight.  That is the speed record from downtown LA to Downtown DC.

The SR-71 Blackbird in the foreground and the Space Shuttle Discovery in the background.

They have a lot of very cool airplanes there.

Discovery has the most flight time of all the shuttles.
